Family
Son of Jose Gonzalo Gilberto Rivera Ramírez and María Lourdes Guerra Martínez, a kindergarten teacher, he has three siblings.
Singer
Since his childhood, he appeared in singing contest programs in Tlaxcala and worked as an announcer on a local radio station.
He began his artistic career after winning the third generation of the TV Azteca reality show, La Academia , in 2004.
In 2005, he signed a contract with the record company Sony BMG and in 2006 he participated in the television show Desafío de estrellas together with his colleagues from La Academia, with whom he made a musical tour of the Mexican Republic.
Rivera worked in musical works such as Bésame mucho and Orgasmos la comedia. In 2007 he starred in the musical La Bella y la Bestia as Bestia alongside Lolita Cortés as Belle. In 2010, he collaborated on the original Mexican musical, Mamma Mia!, while in 2011 he became known in Spain with his portrayal of Simba in The Lion King.
Albums and Songs
He released the studio albums Carlos Rivera (2007), Mexicano (2010), El habia no existe (2013), Yo creo (2016) and Guerra (2018). He also has a tribute album called Legends (2021).
Among his most popular songs are I was waiting for you , How to pay you? , I’m dying , Give me back my heart , He would not exist and Remember me , among others.
All these albums were certified gold and platinum by the Mexican Association of Phonograms and Ideograms Producers (AMPROFON).
Throughout his musical career, Rivera collaborated with artists such as Becky G , Maluma , Melendi , among others. In addition, he was a judge in different versions of the international program The Voice, in the editions of Mexico and Spain in the programs La voz kids and La voz.
In 2022, he presented the song Eres tú – Mama , which he wrote at the age of 16 as a gift for her mother on Mother’s Day. In June, he released Te soñé , a collaboration with the Colombian Carlos Vives that introduces himself as a whale and is dedicated to Tlaxcala, his home state. In September, he released Say What They Say , a track with a similar theme to his previous hit, Que lo nuestro se queda nuestro. In November, he shared the acoustic version of A Journey to Everywhere., released as a duet with Melissa Robles, the soloist of the Mexican group Matisse. In December of the same year, he announced his Un tour a todas partes tour , starting in March 2023.

In February 2023, Rivera released his seventh studio album, titled Sincerándome , consisting of 10 songs in which he deals with his experiences, as well as members of his family, such as his sister, mother, and his wife, Cynthia Rodríguez.
Actor
Rivera also ventured as an actor in Televisión Azteca programs such as La vida es una canción de Los Sánchez. In 2016, he played Andrés in the television television series, El hotel de los secretos.

Carlos Rivera won several awards, including a World Broadway Spain Award for best new actor in El Rey León in 2012, two Dial Awards for new artist and musical career, and a Lo Nuestro Award for mariachi song of the year with 100 years in 2022. He was nominated ten times for the Lo Nuestro Awards, three times for the Premios Juventud and once for the IHeartRadio Music Awards for best new Latin artist in 2017.
Couples and Children
During his participation in La Academia in 2004, Carlos Rivera had a relationship with Hiromi Hayakawa , also a contestant of the same generation. Hiromi passed away in September 2017. As a tribute to her, Carlos Rivera wrote the song Tú fuiste para mí.
In 2022, Carlos Rivera married Cynthia Rodríguez , a singer and TV Azteca presenter who also participated in La Academia in 2005. The wedding was an intimate celebration.
In March 2023, he announced that he is expecting his first child with Cynthia Rodríguez.
